Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur’s initiative to offer service and bring joy to the lives of the underprivileged sections of our society called Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care programme gives you a wonderful opportunity to fill your life with love, compassion, happiness and contentment by making a difference to lives around you. It’s a 10 Care programme which includes Health Care, Educational Care, Child Care, Woman Care, Tribal Care, Community Care, Humanitarian Care, Emergency Relief Care, Animal Care and Environmental Care. EXPRESSIONS OF JOY is a project by Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care in association with the Joy of Giving Week
With a population count of over 1.2 billion people, of which over 700 million live in rural areas, a plaguing concern in India is providing affordable health care solutions to the masses, especially in the remote areas. The rural and tribal population located in the sub-districts (talukas) of Dharampur and Kaprada in the Valsad district of South Gujarat, rank amongst the poorest in the state. As a result, they have very little to eat and suffer from severe malnutrition. The abject poverty coupled with the high level of illiteracy that is rife in these areas, make them highly vulnerable to various diseases and illnesses. The harsh realities are grim and tragic, almost unimaginable.
The current state of the education scenario is such that a large section of this area has remained deprived of this basic necessity. The tribals here are recognised as one of the most marginalised groups and provisions for their educational development in the area are scarce. An innovative and integrated educational approach to maximise their potential is most important for helping them escape the vicious cycle of ignorance and poverty.
In a country where population is growing by the second, economic disparity is inevitable. People living in extreme conditions of poverty and suffering from adverse living conditions are a hard-hitting reality of our nation. There are millions of orphans and abandoned elders whose lives are drastically different from our lives. They live in a space where there is no one to look up to, no one to guide them or even hug them when they need it the most. Days are filled with fear of being forced to beg, crippled by a car accident on a street or no one to tell them the right path ahead.
Animals are every bit capable of feeling pain as humans do. Innumerable animals are killed for food, clothing, entertainment and experimentation every year. They are neglected, mutilated, genetically manipulated, put on drug regimens that cause chronic pain and crippling deformities, killed in gruesome and violent ways. Similar is the state of natural habitation. It is estimated that more than 11 billion trees are cut each year to be put to the service of mankind! Spirituality embraces the entire living spectrum as an extension of one’s own consciousness. The values of Jainism and the principles of ecology are in consonance.
Even in this unfortunate reality, we must never forget that every day presents an opportunity to revive an unfortunate life. We can turn the tide of poverty, loneliness, hunger, illness, and hopelessness into a wave of love, hope, security, and a better future.
