Give today!

The Joy of Giving Week Smile Deck has 52 simple "giving ideas", 1 on each playing card. Each suit represents giving to a specific group-

- Clubs- for people you know

- Spades- for our world/environment

- Hearts- for strangers

- Diamonds- for yourself, to help become a better person

Simple reshuffle the deck each day, and do whatever "giving act" is randomly selected for you!

You can play this game as a family, too!

Smile Decks were first created by a group of Helpothers.org volunteers, as a humble coffee table experiment- the belief was that each act of kindness, no matter how small, changes the world. JGW volunteers worked with Helpothers.org volunteers to create an Indian version of the Smile Deck so that it could be launched during the Week here, and used to encourage people to do little acts of kindness.

My Dearest Sweetheart Momma

This is the 1st time am writing & opening my heart in front of you….have never told you this….may be sometimes we spoke about this….however this is an opportunity I want to take to really let you know “your impact on my life”

You are the most special person for me in my entire life…whatever I am today or I will be in future is only because of you….

My personality, confidence, the never say die attitude is only because the way you supported me when I couldn’t even open my mouth to speak to anybody….i was so scared of everyone….you gave me the strength & believed in me….

In each sphere of my life you have been there as a pillar for me in all my decisions….small or big….

School, College, Late Night Parties, Girlfriends, MBA, Corporate life, Choosing my life partner & so many decisions which has made me such a strong person in the most difficult of situations.

Be there as always with your support & blessings….

I love u so much….

I LIKED THE SMILE DECK CONCEPT. SOME OF THEM I PRACTICED ALREADY, LIKE TAKING LUNCH WITH MY DRIVER AND SECURITY GUARD ON SAME TABLE WITH MY FAMILY ON MY COST, HANDING OVER SWEET PACKETS , SEMINAR KITS TO MY JUNIORS. I KNOW THE PLEASURE I HAD. YES, ONCE I WAS TRAVELLING TO HOWRAH FROM BHUBANESWAR IN DHAULI EXPRESS, WHICH TAKES AROUND 8 HRS TO COVER THE DISTANCE. IT WAS PUJA TIME.  SOMEHOW I COULD BOOK A SECOND CLASS SEAT RESERVED THROUGH TATKAL . THE BOGIE WAS OVERCROWDED. I WAS ANNOYED TO SEE SO MANY PEOPLE ENTERING THE RESERVED COMPARTMENT WITH AN ORDINARY TICKETS.THEN I SAW AN OLD MAN OF AROUND 80 YEARS STANDING IN FRONT OF US HELPLESSLY. FOR A MOMENT I THOUGHT TO BE GENEROUS TO OFFER MY SEAT TO HIM, BUT ON THE NEXT MOMENT MY SELF-INTEREST OVER-RULED THE IDEA, THINKING ABOUT THE ORDEAL I HAVE TO GO THROUGH IN NEXT 8 HRS OF THE LONG JOURNEY. IN THE NEXT MOMENT, AGAIN MY CONSCIENCE KNOCKED MY THOUGHT TO RECONSIDER. SUDDENLY ,I THOUGHT OF MY FATHER OF 90YEARS. IF HE FACES THIS TYPE OF SITUATION, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO HIM ? I GOT UP AND OFFERED THE OLDMAN TO SIT .HE BLESSED ME WHILE ACCEPTING THE SEAT. AFTER ABOUT ONE HOUR HE GOT UP AND TOLD ME TO SIT FOR SOMETIME.I APPRECIATED HIS NICE GESTURE BUT TOLD HIM TO SIT FOR THE TOTAL JOURNEY.SEING THIS ANOTHER GENTLEMAN GOT UP AND TOLD ME TO TAKE HIS SEAT, WHICH I ACCEPTED.THIS RESULTED IN A CHAIN REACTION AMONG THE PASSENGERS IN THAT AREA.EACH ONE GOT UP FOR ONE HOUR AND THUS ALLOWED THE OLD MAN TO SIT FOR EIGHT HOURS. I WAS SO HAPPY THAT DAY.

Are the donations for children only? If they are for adults also, I wish you contact me on 9880435371. I would like to contact some clothes and books. I can't carry them as I am senior of 74 years. If some volunteer can collect it from my residence, it would be fine. Kindly either call me or email me at hemachandrad@yahoo.co.in

This is a amazing game "Smile deck". We as human can't restrain ourselves from talking about others and most of the time we are criticizing some one. I get a card for my self that says "Restrain from criticizing or saying anything negative for a week".

I will try to do this and will share my experience.

Thanks

Palak Jalan from NHL College of Dentistry -

She was at the restaurant and She saw a waiter was from Nepal.

She called him and just talked about him for sometime and She realized that His family was in Nepal.

She asked when you last had talk with them. And the waiter replied a month back.

She took out her cell and asked him to call his family and talk.

After bit hesitation he called and talked.

He got a very satisfactory smile on his face!
